Had I tasted this before the Oaken Rye this review would be very different. By comparison it is thin and metallic. On its own it’s good. The Oaken Rye is simply outstanding.

This is a class of beers that I refer to as “soy sauce”. That sounds terrible, but it’s not in reality. The general profile of barleywine oak barrel beers is a little umami. This one’s heavy, but sweet and tasty. Oooo, mommy!

I think the sweetness of a barley mixed with honey becomes a little too sweet. Maybe gin, but super subtle.
