When we discovered Skagit Valley Malting, based in Skagit county, we thought: “we could brew a beer for locavores, for the 100 mile diet.” The malt comes from less than 100 miles away, but it turns out that Yakima, the source of a lot of the world’s hops, is 111 miles from the brewery as the crow flies. Which... actually sounds better than “100 mile IPA”, so we ran with it - one hundred and eleven! Eleventy-one! Yeah!
We see this recipe as changing up each time we brew it. We’ll always have an IPA that was made with local ingredients, but we’ll have fun with it each time. This is batch 2, and this time around it’s a hazy, medium-strength IPA with citrusy Cascade and Amarillo hops for flavor and dry hopped with aromatic Azacca and Belma hops. And we left the wheat out this time. Show Less
