Teroule

The area surrounding Jemeppe/Sambre isn’t only a farming region. It also has an extended miner’s history.

Coal being too expensive, mining families turned to a fuel of second choice, "teroule". It was mostly made up of shale, soil, or clay. Although the quality of this material was relatively poor, it nevertheless allowed the household to warm themselves and to find comfort after their hard days.

And that's what I’m aiming at with Teroule, a dark beer, strong and complex, with notes of chocolate, liquorice, coffee and a thick texture. It will encourage you, I hope, to experience this feeling of well-being, reminiscent of that of the ancients when they put their "teroule" in the hearth of their fireplace. Show Less
