Cascade Fresh Hop IPA (2016)

Slightly bigger than our standard IPA, this India Pale Ale is closer to a West Coast style. Because we wanted to accentuate the Cascade hop, which has a lower alpha acid then typical IPA hops, we drastically reduced the amount of malt used, but increased our grain bill. We wanted to avoid the malt dominating this subtle hop. Northern Brewer hops were used for bittering, with Cascade used as our middle and final additions, and once again about 5 pounds of fresh Cascade flowers were used to finish this off. We used the recirculation method to extract the hop flavors and ran the beer through the hop bed on the way to the tank. This brew has a slight citrus tone that we have come to expect from Cascade, but the freshness from the hops make this beer well balanced and easy to drink. These Cascades were grown right in our back yard making this a true estate beer. Show Less
