SquirrelCity

We love to drink crisp, malt focused, lagers in the summer! SquirrelCity, is an (almost) traditional helles lager. We started with a simple malt bill of Pilsner and Vienna malts but instead of using traditional German noble hops, we instead used a new hop product called Citra American Noble Hops from YCH. These are Pacific Northwest hops specifically designed for lower IBU beers. They have lowered alpha acids but still have the aromatics and characteristics of the hop varieties. The goal wasn't to make a hoppy lager, or something with overt American Hop characteristics, we really were just curious to see how these hops would perform as a 60 minute addition in a malt focused beer.
