Beyond the Black Stump #1: Wattle Seed Ale

In the spirit of the unexpected and going beyond boundaries, the range was designed to evoke the imagination, celebrate Australian native ingredients and give the brewers an opportunity to brew the beers they’ve always dreamed of.

Taking inspiration from the Australian expression ‘beyond the black stump’ meaning the imaginary point beyond which the country is considered remote or uncivilised, marked by a classic charred ‘Black Stump’, our three brewers have been up late creating beer beyond the point of discovery and return, delving into styles influenced by tall tales and eccentric Aussie characters.

The first beer of the series, Wattle Seed Ale is complete with its own tall tale and eccentric character. A traditional strong ale brewed with native black wattle seed, Wattle Seed Ale delivers sweet hazelnut notes with a hint of vanilla. The unique pairing create a surprisingly easy-drinking ale with a subtle sourness, with an ABV of 6% and IBU of 20.
