At Sandalen Gård in Randaberg/Vistnes — just 10 minutes from Stavanger — cider makers Jo Arild and Anne are driven by one thing above all: innovation. Here, you won’t find large tanks producing a single standard cider. Instead, we work with multiple smaller tanks, experimenting with different apples, yeasts, and fermentation methods — all based on fruit grown on our own family farm. “The day we produce for money alone and become quantity-driven, not innovation-driven, is the day we stop farming and making cider.” We grow over 20 apple cultivars, carefully selected for their unique contribution to cider and juice. Alongside apples, we also cultivate gooseberries, black currants, wild blackberries, and plums — creating a rich palette of flavors.
