Last year we used 7 different techniques of adding hops to the IDAHO-7x7 which gave their own unique mark on the beer. We had so much fun engineering and creating it, we figured we should do a series of beers where we use the 7 techniques but use different hops to showcase. The first taking the stage is Azacca. This hop has a bright and refreshing aroma with juicy mango, tropical fruits, and citrus. Due to its high content of alpha acid this hop creates a good amount of bitterness in this beer. Oh oh oh! You may not know this, but Christmas was almost canceled this year. Santa Claus had to get some repairs done to his trusty, magical sleigh. The reindeers got lucky with a nice surprise holiday while Santa visited our brewery & engineering workshop. He knows we always have a kettle of Motor Oil brewing and our engineers would love to tune-up his wagon. To give his engines the extra holiday sparkle, we adjusted the Motor Oil recipe to merge Orange peel and Cocoa nibs. That worked wonders and smelled so good that we tried it ourselves. Our inspiration for beers come through all around the world, this time we're travelling to Scandinavia and their sweet bread Limpa. The description screams itself to be turned into a beer, and who are we to turn our backs to challenges.

We built a rye stout, as rich as your typical Moersleutel stout, sticky and creamy. With deep molasses, chocolate flavors and a delicate roast, all together with the spicy character from rye malts. Further layered with fennel and caraway seeds, freshened up with sweet orange peel. Juniper berries are added to the boil for a more festive end, bringing a subtle piney and resinous element.
Since this is a sweet bread inspired beer and not a cake inspired beer, lactose was skipped making it vegan friendly.

Usually, Limpa can be found in a Scandinavian table for Christmas celebrations, this year you can also find it in your glass. Read Less
