AukNess Black Lager is a dark German lager based in the Schwarzbier style. A moderate hop flavor is noticeable but is blanketed by a roasted yet smooth malt base. The slightest hint of roasted flavor presents itself initially and then, like that, it is gone. AukNess has a light body with a frosty off-white head and a clean lager finish.

The beer is dark, to match the depths of Auke Lake, which is over 100’ deep. What lurks below the surface in the murky depths of Auke Lake? Many a tales have been told of the legendary AukNess Monster brushing up against swimmers as they attempt to tread the frigid waters of Auke Lake. Though a trickster by nature, there are no records that indicate AukNess poses any threat to humans and is safe to drink.

Named for the majestic bay and harbor right at our brewery’s front door, Auke Bay IPA brings the nautical adventurer out in all of us! An appropriate nod to the history of Indian Pale Ales, which were made for the long boat rides from England to India. The hops were used as a crucial source of vitamin C and as a preservative to keep the crew alive and happy.

This IPA is the perfect balance of malty sweetness and fruity hop bitterness. Amarillo and Ekuanot hops give this beer a burst of citrus, melon, and tropical fruit that is followed by a pleasant lingering bitterness. This hoppy concoction has become one of the most sought after Forbidden Peak brews.

The name is a nod to the agricultural term for when temperatures hit 32°F (0°C), and moisture in the air condenses, resulting in a layer of frost on any exposed surface. Frost point in many environments is measured to protect plants and crops from frozen damage. Though the flavor may be of ice cold hops, our hops were harvested prior to the frost point. You may feel a chill as you sip our Frost Point IPA.

The beer is named after Gold Creek here in Juneau. Chief Kowee showed Richard Harris and Joe Juneau gold in the creek which led to the beginning of mining in town.

Mount Stroller White sits above the famous Mendenhall Glacier here in Juneau, Alaska. The towering mountain may be a difficult climb but the vistas are well worth the struggle to get there.

Mount Stroller White is named after E.J. "Stroller" White, one of the most famous editors and publishers of the Territory of Alaska. The journalist followed the gold rush north and worked in Skagway, Dawson (where he earned his nickname), Whitehorse, and finally ended in Douglas. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Read Less

Fathom 333 starts with a roasted flavor you'd find in a brown or a porter in addition to slight citrus notes from Magnum hops. Amarillo and Zappa hops had four additions each to create a pleasant citrus, menthol, fruity flavor and aroma.
Fathom 333 is named for the daunting depths of Southeast Alaska's own Lynn Canal. At a depth of 333 fathoms (roughly 2000 ft), Lynn Canal is the deepest fjord in North America outside of Greenland and is over 90 miles long. Rain Wolf refers to the Alexander Archipelago Wolves, a subspecies of gray wolf that lives throughout the Tongass National Forest. Typically smaller than other North American subspecies of wolf, around 30-50 lbs. Their colors can vary, depending on the exact location of their pack- white, cinnamon, gray, to Imperial Stout black. Like the wolf pups, our beer was born in the first couple weeks of April.

As for the name, all the tiny bubbles reminded us of our majestic local neighbors, humpback whales, and their bubble-net feeding tactics. This behavior has been documented in only a few places around the world, and we are lucky to have our local waters be one of them.

Berners Brown is named after Berners Bay, which lies approximately 40 miles north of Juneau. It is an important marine and estuarine ecosystem that lies in Lynn Canal. With several glacially fed rivers feeding into the bay, it has an abundance of wildlife and is a magnet for outdoor recreation. Named after George Vancouver’s mother, Berners Bay has a special place in the hearts of residents.
