Upfront is an aroma that is tart, fruity and funky. The backbone behind this beer is the yeast. From Norway and not very common but becoming more known are these Norwegian Farmhouse yeast strains. Known for being fermented at high temperatures, up to 40 degrees Celsius ( i know! In Norway?) this yeast ferments fast and clean with some really cool esters like mango and pineapple so matching that with some fun Australian hops and a funky PNW hop just seemed appropriate. Ingredients: Pilsner, Wheat and a touch of Rye Malt; Hopped with Helga (Southern Hallterau).

Tasting Notes: This beer was fermented with our House yeast putting a Nordic Spin on the style with a sweet floral and funky aroma. Some herbal sweetness from the malt come through in the body of the beer and has a refreshing, dry finish. We took the other half of our Nordic Saison and used a new piece of equipment called a Squarrel (a square barrel) to infuse Oak into the beer. Unlike barrels, there is way more surface area of oak to beer so the infusion can happens within days, up to 8 times faster than normal staves. Look for other releases like this one in limited quantities at the brewery. Read Less
