During WW2, Operation Neptune, the naval component of Operation Overlord, began in the early hours of 6 June 1944 (designated D-Day), off a stretch of France’s northern coast.

This astonishing force included 284 warships, including five battleships, 23 cruisers, and scores of destroyers and destroyer escorts. Battleships Arkansas (BB-33) and Texas (BB-35) shelled Omaha Beach for hours.

The successful invasion of northern France on D-Day became one of the major events in U.S. naval history. Rear Admiral Kirk, reflecting on the day, stated, “Our greatest asset was the resourcefulness of the American sailor.” “Thank God for the United States Navy!” - Major General Leonard T. Gerow

Rich maltiness, with a sweet, caramelly character that greets the nose. Strong, rich malt flavor with a chewy, full-body and a velvety, luscious texture. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth on the finish.

Our Milk stout is a dark, thick ale with very low carbonation, it has notes of sweetened coffee, espresso, and chocolate, but is not cloyingly sweet like candy, rather it has a subtle sweetness reminiscent of whole milk. The aroma is cocoa powder, espresso and vanilla with a noticeably full mouthfeel that unfurls the flavor of dark coffee and cream, burnt sugar and peaty roast. The flavor is nicely balanced, the sweet cream of lactose buffering the malty notes and offsetting the earthy contributions of chocolate malt and roasted grains. Brewed with Orange Blossom Honey, Blackstrap Molasses, roasted European malts and spicy Noble hops for a style that has a light earthy & spicy hop nose, and a slightly sweet Pils malt character with a subtle yeast aroma that is perfumy & honey-like alcohol, with yeasty, fruity esters.

Finishes medium-dry to dry with some smooth alcohol becoming evident in the aftertaste. Medium hop and alcohol bitterness to balance. Very soft yeast character (esters and alcohols, which are sometimes perfumy or orange/lemon-like). Some lightly caramelized sugar or honey-like sweetness on palate. Read Less

We have crafted this version to be reminiscent of a style that was originally developed by medieval monks who served beer on special occasions. Our version of the Belgian Tripel emits notes of a floral bouquet, fresh bread, with hints at spices and malt. It is lightly hopped with notes of grains, fruit and spice, followed by a clean, dry finish. A nice balance of sugar, acidity, bitterness, spices and alcohol rounds out the finish. Read Less

Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, a Quadrupel is a Belgian-style ale of great strength with even bolder flavor compared to its sister styles Dubbel and Tripel. Caramel, dark sugar and malty sweet flavors dominate, with medium-low to medium-high hop bitterness. Our Quadruple has a relatively light body compared to its alcoholic strength, it is a full bodied beer with a rich, malty palate and spicy phenols. The Texas Bluebonnet Tartan was designed by June Prescott McRoberts, late owner of the 'Thistles & Bluebonnets' in Salado, TX. The tartan was officialy adopted as the Texas State Tartan on 5/25/1989. The colors of the tartan owe their selection to the bluebonnet flower, a member of the lupin family, which is widespread in many parts of Texas. East Texas is an amazing place with a rich heritage and eclectic history. One such place is the town of 'Possum Walk. The story goes that Rev. Robert E. Day, one of the many pastors who had served the Union Hill church, was conducting a service when a possum came walking in through the open front doors, walked down the aisle and out the back door of the church without breaking stride.

Another story is that a country doctor, while traveling on horseback through the community, encountered a possum stopped in front of him in the road. “Walk, Possum,” he reportedly said.
