St.Bernardus Abt 12 is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world and therefore also the real flagship of our brewery. It is brewed in the classic quadrupel style and adheres to the original 1946 recipe.

St.Bernardus Abt 12 is a dark beer of top fermentation with a robust head that is ivory in colour. It has a very fruity aroma that is the result of using our own unique yeast. It brims over with different, complex tastes and stands out through its long, bittersweet finish. It is an ideal partner for rich beef dishes and recipes with game. It also forms a perfect match with blue cheese and chocolate.

St.Bernardus Tripel is a traditional abbey beer that follows the classic ‘Tripel’ style. In the Watou region a tripel is often referred to as a ‘Bernadetje’. A fine tribute that pays homage to Bernadette, the youngest daughter of Evariste Deconinck (founder of the brewery in 1946).

St.Bernardus Tripel is a blonde beer with an inviting golden hue and an impressive, velvety-soft head of froth. It has a slightly sweet aroma and a flowery, fruity taste in which bitter and sweet merge harmoniously. Thanks to its pleasant hoppiness, the mouth feel of this beer is nothing short of beatific. A hugely accessible beer that is surprisingly light in character.

St.Bernardus Christmas Ale takes on a splendid dark-brown colour that is topped off with a cream-coloured layer of froth. It’s an intensely dark beer with a full, yet slightly fruity flavour, overflowing with the tastes of winter and zesty seasonal aromas. Aniseed notes are complemented by hints of creamy caramel and fire-roasted chestnuts. This zestiness shows no signes of abating, pushing through to a magnificent finish of dried fruits and chocolate.

St.Bernardus Prior 8 is a traditional abbey beer and sometimes also referred to as a dark tripel. The original recipe dates back to the times when we still brewed under licence (1946-1992). Named ‘World’s Best Dark Belgian Style Dubbel’ on the World Beer Awards, in other words, the best Dubbel beer in the world.

St.Bernardus Prior 8 is chestnut brown, emitting a deep red glow and presenting a lovely rounded head. The beer stands out with its fruity aroma, reminiscent of tree fruits like red apples, but complemented by exotic touches of figs and dates. The whole is rounded off perfectly by impressions of caramel and roast malt. The full taste is malty and fruity in equal measure and achieves the perfect balance between bitter and sweet.

St.Bernardus Wit is a traditional unfiltered Belgian wheat beer. It was developed in collaboration with Pierre Celis, the legendary master brewer who was the driver of the resurgence of white beer in the 1960’s.

St.Bernardus Wit looks distinguished and classic with its attractive, golden-yellow colour hidden under a subtle veil – it epitomises the authentic Belgian cloudy white beer. The fresh aromas of coriander and orange are perfectly balanced with the notes of pungent clove and fruity lemon. These zingy herbs combine with the creaminess of the wheat to produce a beer that is a masterclass in balance.

St.Bernardus Pater 6 is a chestnut-brown, dark beer with a creamy head. Impressions of hazelnut and mocha lie at the basis of the mouth feel, which flows into a playful duel between the mild taste of dark candy sugar and a slightly toasted but dry grain character. St.Bernardus Tokyo Sounds familiar? You are quite right, because in 2012 we launched a one-off brew on the occasion of the opening of the first St.Bernardus-themed café in the Japanese capital. Eight years later, you can sample our St.Bernardus Tokyo again, albeit with a new recipe!

The young Belgian illustrator Jonas Devacht created the artwork for the can, which consists of an impression of Japanese nightlife in the iconic streets of Kanda district, where you can find ‘Brasserie St.Bernardus’.

St.Bernardus Tokyo is an unfiltered ale, which has been brewed with a large amount of wheat, holding the middle between a white beer and a saison.

St.Bernardus Tokyo is an unfiltered, golden ale, topped off with an impressive white collar.

Character, taste, aromas

St.Bernardus Tokyo is famed for its hints of citrus, combined with likeable florals of chamomile and fruity yeast aromas of banana and red apple. Attentive beer fans may also detect a hint of clove and vanilla, as well as the typical esters of our unique St.Bernardus yeast. St.Bernardus Extra 4 is a refreshing blond beer that is brewed in the classic ‘Single’ style. Since 2014, the beer has been part of our range again. Although it never completely disappeared during the licensing period (1946-1992), it was only brewed for consumption by the clergymen themselves.

St.Bernardus Extra 4 shines with the golden hue of pale straw, topped off with a snowy-white collar. A wide range of refreshing, zesty and floral touches including citrus and cloves with a hint of pepper are perfectly balanced by the refined aroma of hops without suffering from an overload of bitterness. Watou Tripel is a traditional abbey beer that is brewed in the classic tripel style. It was launched in 1999 under the impulse of our owner Hans Depypere and although it was originally created for the French market, the beer quickly found a much wider audience.

Watou Tripel is a blonde beer that fills its glass with an attractive, golden-blonde intensity topped with a creamy white head. The aroma of Watou Tripel is an exciting contrast between the fruitiness reminiscent of apricot and a sublime vanilla fragrance. The flavour is velvety with a honey-like sweetness originating from the malt. A subtle note of orange is revealed in the aftertaste.

Did you know that, simultaneously with the launch of Watou Tripel, an almost eponymous cheese was created? Cheese maker Belgomilk (now Milcobel) still makes 'Watou Special'. Both the beer and the cheese have a label which features the Church of Saint-Bavo in Watou. Read Less

St.Bernardus Abt 12 is the flagship beer of Brewery St.Bernardus and is considered as one of the best beers in the world. The Abt 12 is brewed according to an original recipe from 1946. St.Bernardus Abt 12 Barrel Aged Sour is brewed with that same recipe. After the brew, we let the beer rest in Oak barrels for 3 years. This beer aging lets the beer go sour. In June 2019 we blended it with freshly brewed Abt 12 and bottled it in 75cl bottles. Balanced in flavours, perfect as can be, heavenly nectar within your reach. Enjoy! Read Less
