Kdog: Dark as motor oil. One of my favorites.

I was a little worried this would be very acidic, but it surprisingly has more jammy cherry character than almost 2 years ago. Lemon is still there in equal parts, but the vinegar notes are not. No carbonation and the mouthfeel is still very wine-like.

A nice easy drinker, but a little ittle too much lemon grass for me.

Kevin W is drinking an Ophidia’s Eye by Brew Detroit at City of Rochester Hills
The barrel aging adds an oaky and vanilla character to offer some balance to the heavy roast and char of the base beer. There's also a little bit of dark fruit character in the middle that I didn't notice in the base beer.

Kevin W is drinking an Oude Rhubarbe Tilquin à l'Ancienne (2021-2022) by Gueuzerie Tilquin at City of Rochester Hills
Dankness has faded since the last time I had this. It's there, but much more mild.

Big and roasty Imperial Stout with some dark chocolate, burnt malt, and espresso.

Pretty dank aroma, but the flavor is driven more by pine bitterness than dankness.

I get nervous when I see IPAs that look like this. It's almost a guarantee of a strong malty/caramel presence which I disliked in so many Midwest IPAs years ago. It's pretty much the case here as well. Get fresh, because these types of IPAs fade fast.

Kevin W is drinking a Deluxe by Hopewell Brewing Co. at City of Rochester Hills
Dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, espresso, and mild bourbon in the finish. A really nice big old school adjunct-free Imperial Stout.

Last time I had this was the 2021 Old Fitzgerald bottle. I feel like that had more barrel presence than this Blanton's variant. Still great, but a bigger barrel influence would help cut through the sweetness.
